Dates whilst tracing the family line have been difficult to confirm owing to transcription errors on some databases
The Mormon records state that Phillis was born on 14.03,1845 and christened at St Thomas Dudley on 11.05.1845. This does not tally with the age of 28 in 1875 on her marriage certificate. She took her name from her grandmother Phillis Rolinson born 1787 in Dudley who married her grandfather William Gill on 10 Dec 1804. William was born in Kingswinford c 1786 and died 1 Jan 1850 in Dudley
Phillis's father Joseph Gill married his second wife Rebecca Law in Sedgley in 1835, William who appears aged 11 on the 1841 Census was the product of his first wife Harriet Pearson . Rebecca's father was Benjamin Law and we can see how the names were continued in the family. Joseph Gill died in 1856 and Rebecca on 17.Feb 1869 The couple had seven children, Joseph, Benjamin, Noah, Mary Ann, Phillis, Thomas and Josiah, there is no trace of Noah after the 1841 census - died 1st Q 1845 Dudley
