Lilian's Funeral

Lilian's Funeral
As mother became ill she was befriended by a handsome charming young
curate from the big limestone church across the road in Wellswood.
Whislt I visited her in the home just before she died Dad and I
discussed her funeral and after bad experiences with Uncle Normans and
cousin Colister Clagues meaningless religious funerals we tried to plan
hers more appropriately. She shared her love of poetry with the curate
and we decided to have part of a Blake poem she was always reciting read
as well as any Hymns etc... I do remember Dudley and Thora and others
being uncomfortable when the Blake was read . It was the bit about 'a
robin redbreast in a cage sets all heaven in a rage' .....................
Quite a long passage she knew by heart... Thalia
