beautiful baby with blotting paper eyes,
soaking up the world, full of surprise.
two year old girl so quizzical and wise
her twin brother with calm trusting eyes
emile aged five with mischevious defiant eyes
as he vies for attention his siblings deny.
the dark coop banner emblazoned in gold
declares "with the light of knowledge in their eyes"
proclaims the hopes and dreams of old
bush and blair with their painted on eyes,
they may be clever but are they wise?
when did the light in their eyes die?
Is it their delusions, spin and lies
those old black and white photos
where are their curious baby eyes?
